This chronicle reports the major events in the twenty five year history of the Britannia Power and Sail Squadron from an informal meeting in the month of July, 1964 to the end of June, 1989.
The source material was the correspondence, files, minutes of meetings and the newsletters of the Squadron. Unfortunately some records were missing for the years prior to 1982. Therefore the historical documents were supplemented by interviews with some long time members of the Squadron and the comments of nine retired Squadron Commanders who reviewed parts of the first draft manuscript, 1964 to 1982.
In this history, following the usual custom of Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons, there is no mention of military or civilian ranks, titles or decorations. It is only the Canadian Power and Sail Squadron ranks and grades of members that are recorded. Yet over the years many distinguished men and women, civilian and military, were members and officers of the Britannia Squadron.
