The Annual General Meeting was held at the R.A. Centre on the evening of 3rd May.

The Chairman of the Nominating Committee stated that the Squadron Regulations provided for two first lieutenants only in addition to the Secretary and the Treasurer. Therefore the Squadron practice of electing four additional first lieutenants was not correct.

The following officers were elected for the 1977/1978 season :

Commander Ellen Devine, AP
Lieut. Commander
and Executive Officer
George Schurman, AP
First Lieut. and Secretary Kenneth Findlay, AP
First Lieut. and Treasurer Herbert Barrett, S
First Lieutenant Jack Buchanan, AP
First Lieutenant John Murray, AP

The outgoing Treasurer reported another satisfactory year.

The Training Officer also reported 1976/77 a very successful season. The only disappointment was the usual number of drop outs on the Boating Course. For those who wrote the examination on the Boating Course the number of passes was very encouraging; 107 or 91 percent on the English and 4 or 80 percent on the French language examination.

The strength of the Squadron was now 305 full members, 72 lady associates and six junior associates

At a Special General Meeting in August the members approved an increase in Squadron dues from $6.00 to $9.00. Thus the total fee for full members for the next year was $15.00; this was $5.00 for National Headquarters, $1.00 for Rideau District and $9.00 for the Squadron. Later in the autumn Rideau District increased its levy on each Squadron member to $2.00. This meant that the Squadron would keep only $8.00 of the total fees paid by full members.

During the summer the Squadror Commander appointed nine Squadron Lieutenants. These were Ralph Bayley, AP, Harry Brouse, N, William E. Chabot, Claire Geoffrion, AP, Diane Henderson, JN, Herbert Law, AP, Andrew Malysheff, AP, Desmond Moyles, AP and Edgar A. Wiggs, JN.

Rear Commander Paul LaDelpha accepted the task of Training Officer for the 1977/1978 season. Then he resigned in September. The Commander appointed Erling Stolee, AP who had rejoined the Squadron recently to be the Training Officer until April, 1978.

In September Lieutenant Commander Schurman resigned as Executive Officer since he was being transferred to Richmond, B.C. The Commander appointed First Lieutenant John Murray, AP to this vacant position with the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

This autumn one hundred and sixty one students were registered for the Boating Courses. Another one hundred and sixty three were registered for advanced and elective courses. This is a total registration of three hundred and twenty four.

The Squadron hosted the Rideau District Council Meeting at the Britannia Yacht Club on 18th September. The same popular arrangements were made with the Yacht Club as for the previous District Meeting.

There were no social events during the summer and autumn of 1977.

Lt. Andrew Malysheff resigned in December due to the pressure of his other work and Lt. Claire Geoffrion resigned in early January for personal reasons.

A special General Meeting was held at Woodroffe High School on 8th February for the sole purpose of amending Squadron Regulations to provide for four First Lieutenants in addition to the Secretary and Treasurer.

A Squadron Dinner Dance was held at the R.A. Centre on 10th February for members, students and friends. To encourage participation a telephone committee was organized to call all members before the event. The consensus of the one hundred and seven participants at the dinner dance was very favourable.

Again this year the two Squadrons in Ottawa joined together to man an information booth at the Ottawa Sportman's Show. National Headquarters of CPS gave a grant of $250.00 towards the cost of constructing the display.
