The Treasurer reported 1968-69 a successful year with a reasonable increase in net income and net worth.
The Annual Dinner was held on 8th May at the Britannia Yacht Club. The guests of honour were Chief Commander Howard S. Rees, Commander John D. Richards of the Ottawa Power Squadron and the Commodore of the Britannia Yacht Club.
This evening marked the completion of the largest and most successful training program since the formation of the Squadron.
On the examinations sixty five students wrote and fifty two passed Piloting, twenty two wrote and twenty two passed Seamanship, five wrote and passed Advanced Piloting and one wrote and passed Engine Maintenance.
With the new members from the Piloting Course the Membership in the Squadron is now one hundred and twenty full members and twenty-five lady associates.
There were thirty eight registrations for the Adult Basic Sailing Course in May. Twenty of these students participated in the practical sailing on Saturday mornings.
The Annual Summer Rendezvous was at Pinhey's Point on 20th July. There was a short predicted log race and some other tests of boating skill. A sail past planned for the late afternoon was cancelled as the U.S.A. astronauts landing on the moon was a greater attraction.

Commander McConnell wrote a series of articles on sailing for the C.P.S. magazine The Port Hole. These articles covered problems of interest to sailors such as rigging, racing, cruising, launching and hauling out.
The Britannia Yacht Club continued to appoint a member of Britannia Power Squadron as their Safety Officer. This was now a policy with the Yacht Club. Their Full and By continued to give good publicity to the Power Squadron.
In September the number of students registered for the Piloting Course was far below the record of 1968. At the same time there was a twenty percent increase in the registrations for advanced and elective courses.
A repeat of the "Caribbean Cruise Dance" that was so successful the previous February, was scheduled for 14th February. However this date was in conflict with a Britannia Yacht Club function and later dates in February or March would place the event in Lent. Therefore the dance was re-scheduled for Saturday, 4th April at Wallis House, the same location as last year.
Unfortunately the revised date was not popular and only sixty-five members and guests participated. The result was an unexpected loss of almost $200 instead of a profit similar to that of the previous year.
