1967 was Centennial Year and during the winter the officers of the Bridge were discussing the contributions that the Power Squadrons might make to the Centennial Celebrations. Commander Criddle of Britannia was the Canadian Power Squadrons representative on the Ottawa Centennial Committee. Numerous aquatic events were planned by the yacht, sailing and canoe clubs in the area. The program extended from mid July to the first week of September.
It was agreed that the Britannia Power Squadron would provide an escort for the Voyageur Canoes from Quyon to Britannia Bay and that the Ottawa Power Squadron would provide an escort on the river below Ottawa on departure of the Voyageurs for Montreal.
The Squadron scheduled a predicted log race to Quyon for the evening of 28th August. Thus the Squadron boats would be at Quyon to meet the Voyageurs the next morning and escort them to Britannia. The canoes would land on the beach in Britannia Bay in the early evening for a civic reception in their honour.
In the early winter the Ottawa and Britannia Squadrons acting together purchased two thousand information pamphlets from Canadian Power Squadrons. Arrangements were made for the Customs Office at Ottawa to distribute these brochures to all who applied for boat licenses during 1967. The pamphlets enclosed a notice inviting those interested in learning safety afloat and good boat handling to contact one of the training officers of the two local squadrons.
The third Annual General Meeting was held on 5th May at the Britannia Yacht Club. The following officers were elected for the 1967/1968 Squadron Year :

The number of examinations written on the winter courses of 1966/67 was less than in previous years. However the results were encouraging. Twenty-eight Piloting Course students wrote the examination and twenty four passed. On the other courses eighteen wrote examinations with only one failure.
The Annual Graduation Dinner was held at the Britannia Yacht Club on 24th May. The guests of honour were Vice Commander H.S. Rees, Commander D.J. Henderson of the Ottawa Power Squadron and Commodore Appleton of the Britannia Yacht Club.
Again this year there was an increase in total membership. After adding five transfers from other squadrons and new members from the Boating Course the strength of the Squadron was seventy-eight full members and twenty nine lady associates.
Commencing in April of this year the Squadron began to publish its own newsletter. This newsletter was issued only when there were important announcements to send to members, such as the date and place of the Annual General Meeting and of forthcoming social events. The Britannia Yacht Club paper continued to carry some news items concerning the Squadron but it was distributed only to members of the Yacht Club.
Again this year the Britannia Yacht Club asked the Power Squadron to assume responsibility for the safety of the yachts at B.Y.C. Lieut. Commander Marshall was appointed Senior Safety Office for the season. He and his assistants, with safety check lists and B.Y.C. instruction books, reported on their Inspections directly to the Commodore of the B.Y.C.
The 1967 Adult Basic Sailing Course was a complete success.
The Rendezvous was a huge success at Pinhey's Point on 30th July. Twenty boats assembled at 1300 for an afternoon of fun including a short predicted log race. Paul C.M. LaDelpha was the winner of this event.
On 28/29th August the arrangements for the welcome to the Voyageurs took place as scheduled.
In September a pleasant dance on the theme of "Meet the Power Squadron" was held at the Britannia Yacht Club.
Registrations for the 1967/68 winter training program were somewhat less than in the previous year. Forty two students registered for Piloting, eleven for Advanced Piloting, seven for Seamanship and thirteen for other courses.
The CPS Annual General Meeting and Conference was held at the Chateau Laurier Hotel in Ottawa on 4th and 5th November. Commander Donald J. Henderson of the Ottawa Power Squadron was Chairman of the Committee that organized this Conference and Commander Ernest E. Criddle of the Britannia Squadron was the Vice Chairnan. Other members from both of the Squadrons in Ottawa gave freely of their time working on the arrangements. The two days of meetings were judged a success although attendance of little more than one hundred delegates was a disappointment.
